Introduction
The following words have been selected to provide scaffolding and support for creative story telling on the theme of fairy tales. There are three packs of 30 word cards organised in increasing reading age. Use the cards to support oral story games and during drafting of creative writing. The cards can be used individually as additional stimulus and support or in group situations for collaborative story telling. You may also wish to combine packs and choose specific vocabulary matched to the student's needs and/or the task requirements.
Pack 1
castle, dragon, dwarf, elf, evil, fairy, frog, godmother, gold, horse, king, kiss, knight, lie, pig, poison, prince, princess, queen, shield, silver, sleep, spell, step-mother, sword, wand, wish, witch, wolf and wood.
Pack 2
Basket, breath, cauldron, cave, cloak, cottage, cruel, diamond, disappear, disguise, draw-bridge, dress, enchanted, fire, forest, goblin, helmet, journey, lock, magical, potion, quest, scale, star, straw, teeth, tower, troll, unicorn and wedding.
Pack 3
Arrow, ball, banish, betray, carraige, claw, creature, defeat, force, heart, imposter, jewels, ogre, passage, plot, puppet, saddle, scarf, secret, slipper, spinning-wheel, stone, swamp, throne, ticket, transform, treasure, ugly, wart and wicked.
Instructions
Simply print on to card and cut out individual cards. Ideally laminate for durability.
