Going to the toilet in public is when someone pees (urinates) in a place other than a toilet.
Having a pee in a place that is not a toilet can make that place smelly and unclean. This is unkind to other people.
When we need to pee we should wait until we find a toilet. We should tell an adult that we need to go urgently. It may feel uncomfortable having to wait but we will be Ok.
Having a pee in a public place is not OK. It is usually against the rules and can make other people very upset.
Using a urinal in a public toilet
A urinal is a place where males (men and boys) are allowed to pee (urinate) in a public toilet.
Many public toilets have urinals for males to use. There can be just one but often there are more. We can take care to make sure that we pee carefully so we don’t leave a mess.
When there is more than one urinal we may have to pee at the same time as other people. This is OK. It is usually polite to be quiet and not look at what other people are doing.
Using a urinal in a public place is OK. We should take care to pee carefully and ignore other people using the toilets.
Going To The Toilet

A toilet is usually a seat with a bowl that collects our pee and poo. When we are done we can use toilet paper to keep our bottom dry and clean. When we are ready we flush everything away with clean water.
A toilet is only for pee, poo and toilet tissue. We don’t put anything else down the toilet. Other things can block the toilet or the drains. If we do this people may be very unhappy with us.
After we use the toilet we must wash our hands. This keep them clean. Clean hands are nice for everyone.
We can use the toilet carefully. Just for pee, poo and toilet paper. We never put anything else in the toilet. When we are finished we can wash our hands.
