Hope
Hope is the feeling that things will get better.
Feeling hope is important. It makes us feel positive about the future. This then helps us cope with the challenges and difficulties we face in life. It helps us to imagine ways in which things can become better for us.
We can train ourselves to be better at feeling hope. We can:
Be grateful - We can think about all the good things in our lives.
Set targets - We can measure our progress to get better by setting achievable goals.
Focus on things we can do - We can try not to think about things that we can’t control.
Talk with friends - Our true friends will always support us and make us feel positive.
Look after our body and mind - When we take care of ourselves we are more able to take on challenges and focus on our goals.
Seek inspiration - We can find out about inspiring people who overcame challenges.
Help others - When we help others we show ourselves that we can make things better.
Feeling hope helps us cope with challenges. We can also learn to feel more hopeful about our future.
Hope 2
Hope is the feeling that things will get better.
Hope is like a superpower that helps me when things are bad. It helps me:
to know that things can get better
to be strong and tackle tough times
to think of ways to sort my problems
to be in control of my life
When I have hope it shows people that I am going to be okay. It shows people that even if things are tough I will be strong. This makes people happy.
Sometimes I need a boost to my hope superpower. I can do this by talking to a trusted adult or friend about how I feel. It is okay to need a bit of help from others to make me feel strong again.
Hope is a powerful feeling that keeps me being okay. I can shows others that I use hope to get through sad and worrying times. If I need it, I can always ask for help.
