Introduction
Inclusion monitoring helps to establish the effectiveness of current policies and practices to support students with additional needs. It can also identify gaps in provision which in turn can inform future training and support initiatives for staff.
Inclusion needs to be at the heart of a school's ethos and permeate all aspects of school life as well as the planning and delivery of lessons. It is responsibility of all adults, whether paid staff or volunteers, to uphold inclusive values and to model appropriate behaviour. Inclusion monitoring, therefore, is the responsibility of all school leaders at all levels and not just a role assigned to one or two individuals.
