What's involved?
A skipping game for younger children or for children unable to skip. This is a useful playground game but does require adult supervision.
What's required?
You need 6 or more players and a long rope. Adult supervision.
How to play:
Two children are chosen to hold an end of the rope each.
Crouching down they swing the rope side to side along the ground. The rope should look now like a slithering snake sneaking across the ground.
The other children now take turns to jump across the snake making sure they don’t touch it.
If a child touches the snake they must change places with one of the children holding the rope.
Notes
There is a risk of tripping over the rope and potential for injury. The adult supervising needs to ensure that the rope stays in contact with the ground at the point at which children jump across. With care and appropriate adaption this activity can be done with some children with visual-impairments or movement difficulties making it an inclusive activity.
(The supervising adult should always USE their knowledge of each participant's individual needs and capabilities In Deciding whether this activity is safe for them.)
