What's involved?
A fun circle chase game useful as a warm up or movement activity. Once taught it is easy game for children to organise during play time.
What's required?
You need 10 or more players but no equipment is required.
How to play:
Players form a circle
One child is chosen to be the 'burglar'.
The 'burglar' walks around the circle chanting:
I am a burglar sneaking round at night,
If one of you's a policeman, you'll give me a fright.
On the word 'fright' the burglar immediately taps the shoulder of one of the children in the circle.
The child tagged then chases the burglar once around the circle calling: 'Burglar! Burglar!'
If the burglar is caught then they join the circle.
If the burglar gets all the way round without being caught then they have another go.
Variations:
Players can stand or sit to make it harder or easier to catch the burglar.
The burglar is told to hop on one foot rather than run when being chased
