Eating Healthily Social Stories

Three different social stories covering healthy eating, eating too little and eating too much.

Eating Healthily

Eating healthily means eating the right amount of a range of different foods to keep our body and mind healthy.

Everyone has foods that they like and foods that they don't like. Eating healthily means sometimes having to eat foods that we don't really like. Eating healthily also means not eating too much of the foods that we love. This is called eating a balanced diet.

Our body is made from the food that we eat. A healthy body needs healthy food. If we don't eat the right balance of foods we can get ill. Eating too much of the wrong foods can also be bad.

How much food we need to eat depends on our body size and how active we are. The food that we eat provides the energy to move our muscles. If we do a lot of exercise we usually need more food.

If we don't eat a healthy diet it can make people who look after us very upset.

We need different foods to live and be healthy. Sometimes we need to eat foods we don't like but usually we can avoid the ones we really hate. It is important that we try.
