Emotion Fan Using Five Point Rating Scale
Use this to support pupils with developing awareness and expressing their emotional state. Five fans numbered 1 to 5 with corresponding vocabulary: happy, good, OK, upset and angry. Numbers and colours faciliate communication for those with anxiety over expressing their emotions.

Five Point Rating Scale (Grey Scale)
As above resource but in grey scale. Some pupils have aversions to certain colours and so this neutral grey scale provides a way to express non verbally how they are feeling. Has happy/sad and relaxed/angry axis to support understanding.
Mood Warning Scale
Green, amber and red with cartoon facial expressions with appropriate vocabulary. A quick non-verbal way for children to signal how they are feeling. For children who have difficulty communicating emotions and/or those that you wish to help become more aware of their emotional state, necessary if they are going to develop more self-regulation.
Rating Scale Card
A wallet card sized five-point rating scale with space on the back under the heading 'Things I can do to feel better.' Two copies on an A4 sheet.
